Welcome to 5th Grade. The year begins....

I hope everyone enjoyed the summer holidays.  I definitely made the best of mine with plenty of outside activities mixed in with a few visitors and a trip.  It was great, but it's really over now.  Although we were get ready for the new school year, this heat made it a tricky start. However, we all survived.  It's an exciting time, as well as a bit hectic as we all change our routines.
As we settle into school these first few days, there may be a lot of uncertainty and questions.  Please be sure to ask me anything so that we can try to hit the ground running and get the year off to a strong start.  I'm looking forward to seeing all the students and eventually meeting their families at our Open House in September 13th.  You will find more information about the Open House in the school newsletter.   Enjoy the last few days of summer.  See you soon.

  • Bag lunch & WATER bottle & a good snack.  Dinner - either $10+ for dinner
at Burger King or the like, or they can pack an extra lunch for dinner.  If money is a
concern, please do not hesitate to let us know and we can try to help out.
  • Cameras only (optional):  School policy applies here - NO phones or electronics.
If you have concerns regarding phones, please contact Ms. Moran or Mr. Libby.
If students have a phone for their camera, we need to know well ahead to meet with
about that.  All adults will have phones and phone numbers. No need to worry on that note.
We’ll have a couple of movies on the bus as well.
  • Backpacks:  Students will not need to carry their backpacks, but should have
everything packed neatly.  It will stay on the bus. Students are welcome to bring books,
cards, etc.
  • Layers:  Not sure of weather just yet, but the bus can get cold and/or hot
depending on where you sit.  Rain gear (or a big plastic bag with holes for arms and head….
they work well), if needed. No umbrellas due to crowds.
  • Shoes and socks, please.  We’ll be walking quite a bit, and blisters have been
an issue in the past.

NOTICE: LSW Ending & Last Day of School

Dear RSU 1 Families,

We have received some questions regarding the impact of the nine school days we have missed due to the fall storm and snow storms. The district made up one of these days by replacing the January 26th professional development day with a student day.

The district gave thoughtful consideration to a multitude of options to make up instructional time. In an effort to end the school year on a reasonable date that promotes optimal instruction, we have decided to cancel Late Start Wednesdays from April 25th through the remainder of the school year. Therefore, there will be no more Late Start Wednesdays after we return from April break. By doing this, the last day of school for students will be Monday, June 18th. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
